Bio
Wathsala is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. She is also Graduate from University of Sri
Jayewardenepura in Bachelor of Science in Finance and holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of
Management. She is also currently pursuing the CFA qualification from the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute (USA). With over eight years of
experience in external and internal auditing, internal controls, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, she has established strong technical
expertise and a consistent track record in leading and delivering high-quality audit engagements. She currently serves as a partner in the Audit
and Assurance Division of Moore Aiyar Chartered Accountants, having progressively advanced through the roles of Manager, Assistant Manager
and Associate Director. Prior to joining Moore Aiyar, she gained experience in commercial lending at Acuity Knowledge Partners, served as an
Internal Audit Associate at the Bank of Ceylon.
Her professional exposure covers a wide range of audit and assurance assignments, including evaluating financial controls, conducting
compliance reviews, performing risk assessments, and supporting clients in strengthening governance and reporting processes across multiple
industries. In addition to her technical work, she is deeply passionate about training and professional development. She has led and facilitated
knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at enhancing staff competencies in auditing, financial reporting, and compliance.
She is also actively involved in the professional accounting community. She currently serves as a Committee Member of the Annual Report
Awards (TAGS Awards) and the Education Committee of CA Sri Lanka for 2024/2025, and as a Sub-Committee Member of the Statutory
Accounting Standards Committee (SASC) of CA Sri Lanka for 2025. Additionally, she was a member of the Student Association of Finance of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Her ongoing engagement in both practice and professional committees demonstrates her commitment to
advancing the fields of auditing, financial reporting, and professional education.
